Organisation
Comenius was founded in 1996 and is part of AOG Contractonderwijs BV, the public-private partnership of the University of Groningen and Freia. Sister organisations of Comenius include institutes such as the AOG School of Management and the IBO Business School.
Besides its National Comenius Course, Comenius also developed the European Course in the year 2000. For this, Comenius maintains intensive contacts with Europe’s leading universities such as the Catholic University of Louvain, the University of Cambridge, the Karl Ruprecht Universität of Heidelberg, the University of Bologna, the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and the Karls University of Prague.
To expand the programme, the American Comenius Course was developed in 2003, which has resulted in an intensive working relationship of Comenius with Harvard University, Yale University, Stanford University, and the University of California in Berkeley.
The Chinese Comenius Course started in 2008 and, thus, Comenius set foot on Chinese soil. It has resulted in close collaboration with leading professors of Peking University and the Tsinghua University in Bejing as well as the Fudan University in Shanghai.
