Association
Participating in a Comenius Course is often compared to a journey. Once the end has been reached and the Course has been completed, the journey continues. The scientific knowledge and inspiration gained during the Course require attention and deepening. The Comenius Association can facilitate this. The Association consists of former participants of all Comenius Courses combined and continues in the spirit of the 'Universitas' with meetings that invite inspiration, reflection and that offer an opportunity to meet.
Comenius Deepening Module
The Comenius Deepening Module is a programme that is open to all former participants. The programme is held once a year and takes two or three consecutive days. It always focuses on one theme or topic. Over the past years these themes have included e.g. ‘ethics’ and ‘trust’. During a Comenius Deepening Module you will be presented with state-of-the-art insights from various classic scientific disciplines. There will be ample opportunity for dialogue with familiar and new Comenius lecturers to unveil the topic together, layer by layer. Of course the Comenius Association is also managed by a moderator and there will be sufficient time for discussion and reflection.
Association Lectures
Several times a year Comenius will have an Association Lecture at ‘The Heiligenberg’ in Leusden, the Netherlands. During these afternoons a specific topic will be examined by two lecturers from different disciplines. This will make the tension within the topic tangible. The Association Lectures will enable you to return to the Comenius atmosphere for a while once again. They are also excellent opportunities to meet up with other former participants and exchange views with them.
Comenius Inspirational Journey
Every year the members of the Association may register for a inspirational journey to a prominent university or a famous research institute abroad. Topics and destinations may vary by the year. In some years a specific scientific angle is examined in depth, while in other years the emphasis may be on unravelling the mindset or culture of a specific country from various perspectives. The Comenius Inspirational Journey will offer you the opportunity to be inspired again by the unknown and to review your own paradigms. All this while meeting other former Comenius participants and having discussions with them. The length of the journey may vary from three to seven days. In the past the journey has taken the participants to cities such as Salamanca (Spain) and Istanbul (Turkey).
Practical information
When you are a member of the Comenius Association, you will be informed in writing about the planning and the content of the various activities of the Association several times a year.
